A Beginner Guide On E-skateboard Deck

An electric skateboard deck is the base of your board. It is the most important part of the electric skateboard. It is the foundation of the board and acts as the base for all other components. The type of electric skateboard deck you choose will greatly affect the performance of your board. Here are some tips to help you choose the right electric skateboard deck:

The Size of Deck

Electric skateboard decks come in different sizes, so it is important to understand the size of the deck that you need. Take into account the overall size of the board, the weight of the rider, and the type of riding you plan to do.

About choosing Electric Longboard or mini electric skateboard, you can refer to our previous blog post "Electric Longboard or Electric Shortboard? - How To Choose?"

The Materials of Deck

>Electric skateboard decks are typically made from maple, bamboo, or composite materials. Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it is important to understand the pros and cons of each type of material before making a purchase.

Maple: The wood is dense and uniform in texture, easy to polish and paint, moderate in strength, high quality, resistant to abrasion and collision, not easy to be affected by moisture, and is the most commonly used.

Bamboo: It has great elasticity, but if it is stored for a long time, it will greatly reduce its elasticity due to moisture, and it is easier to deform. Bamboo is lighter than maple.

Carbon Fiber: high strength, lightweight, good corrosion resistance. But the rigidity and elasticity depend on the manufacturing process and are more expensive.

Glass Fiber: high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, low elasticity, generally used as a reinforcing material.

Aluminum Alloy & Composite Plastic: high strength, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. The hardness and elasticity can be adjusted according to the needs of the users.

The Shape of Deck

Electric skateboard decks come in a variety of shapes. Some decks are designed to provide extra stability, while others are designed for speed and agility. Consider the shape of the deck carefully and choose one that best suits your needs.

RADIAL: The subtle U-curve is the most common deck shape and provides a better grip. For example: Teamgee H5.

PROGRESSIVE: The cliff along the board combined with the wider base provides a more secure footing and a more stable feel.

W-CONCAVE: An extra curve on the centerline allows you to transfer more energy from heel to toe, facilitating a more precise transfer of power and sharp turns. For example: Teamgee H20T, Teamgee H20.

FLATCAVE/GASPEDAL: Flatter on both feet, softer ride, but steeper edges still provide sudden power into tight turns.

ASYMMETRIC: The edge of the board is upturned at different angles, which can make the rider more powerful when turning.

CONVEX: Uncommon, but suitable for obstacle slides and downhills.

FLAT: Uncommon, gives lots of room to the feet and room for boardwalking and other fancy tricks.

KICKTAIL: It can help to complete tricky actions such as turns and sideslips during taxiing. For example: Teamgee H20 MINI.

In conclusion, once you have chosen the size, material, and shape of your e-skateboard deck, you are ready to start riding! Be sure to wear protective gear, like a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads, and always practice safety when riding. Have fun and enjoy your e-skateboard!
